Our Story
My Favorite Chicken® was founded in North Texas in 2014 with a simple idea: raising backyard chickens should be easier, more enjoyable, and more accessible for everyone.
Our chicken-keeping experience began even earlier. We started with a small flock, went on to breed exotic and endangered breeds, and eventually operated a free-range egg business with more than 400 hens. Those years taught us what flock owners truly need and how the right products and practical guidance can make everyday chicken care simpler.
We first shared that experience by making the Chicken Guard® automatic coop door readily available to American chicken keepers. From there, we expanded into carefully selected supplies, useful innovations, and products developed specifically for backyard poultry owners. On February 1, 2019, the company changed its name from ChickenGuardian to My Favorite Chicken® as it expanded beyond automatic coop doors.
What began as a small business serving fellow chicken keepers has grown into a national poultry brand supporting backyard flock owners, homesteaders, hobby farmers, and families across the country. More than a decade later, our commitment to quality products, practical guidance, and friendly service still guides everything we do.
