V-Shaped Chicken Feeder Cup for Coops and Pens

Serve feed or supplements in a compact cup that keeps the contents easy for birds to reach. The VFeedr chicken feeder cup holds 800 mL (27 oz) and hangs directly on suitable wire mesh in a coop, breeding pen, cage, hutch, or aviary.

Its V-shaped opening directs dry material toward the center of the cup. This gives chickens a defined place to eat while helping limit the feed that can be billed or flicked over the edge of a conventional open cup.

How the V-Shaped Opening Helps Limit Spillage

The narrow opening is designed to sit around the feeding bird’s neck. When the cup is mounted at the correct height, there is less open space through which feed can be tossed outward. The design helps reduce spillage; it does not guarantee that every bird or feed texture will produce zero waste.

Mount the cup so the lower part of the V opening is approximately at chicken-neck height. Leave as little unnecessary space as practical between the bird’s neck and the bottom of the opening, then observe the flock and adjust the position if birds cannot reach comfortably or can easily scatter feed.

Wire-Mesh Installation

Use the integrated hooks to hang the cup on secure, compatible wire mesh. Make sure the cup is level, fully seated, and stable before filling it. Check the attachment regularly, especially in active pens where birds may bump or perch near the cup.

An optional VFeedr wall-mount adapter is available separately for compatible installations. The wall adapter is not included with this product.

Feed, Grit, Treats and Supplements

Use the cup for a measured serving of dry poultry feed or for items that are often offered separately from the main feeder. Choose a ration appropriate for the flock’s age and purpose with help from our chicken feeding guide:

  • Complete dry chicken feed
  • Poultry grit
  • Oyster shell or another appropriate calcium supplement
  • Dry poultry treats
  • Dry nutritional supplements used according to their directions

Choose contents that flow freely through the opening. Remove anything that becomes wet, compacted, spoiled, or contaminated.

Single Cup and Multipack Options

Select one cup for a small setup or choose the 5-pack or 10-pack for multiple pens, cages, or feeding stations. Every quantity option uses the same 800 mL (27 oz) VFeedr cup; only the number of cups changes.

  • Capacity per cup: 800 mL (27 oz)
  • Mounting style: integrated hooks for suitable wire mesh
  • Material: polypropylene copolymer
  • Country of origin: Netherlands

Cleaning and Routine Care

Remove the cup from the mesh and discard old contents before cleaning. Wash away feed dust and residue, rinse thoroughly, and allow the cup to dry completely before adding fresh dry feed or supplements. For broader moisture and handling precautions, review our guide to storing chicken feed safely.

Inspect the opening, hooks, and cup body during routine cleaning. Stop using the cup if it is cracked, cannot hang securely, or has an edge that could injure a bird.

Chicken Feeder Cup: Frequently Asked Questions

How does the V-shaped cup help reduce feed spillage?

The opening is designed to sit around a feeding bird’s neck. At the correct mounting height, the bird occupies part of the opening, helping limit the space through which feed can be flicked or billed outward. Results vary with mounting height, bird behavior, and feed texture.

How high should I mount the VFeedr cup?

Position the lower part of the V-shaped opening approximately at your chickens’ neck height, with as little unnecessary space as practical between the neck and the bottom of the opening. Observe the flock and adjust the cup if birds cannot reach comfortably or can easily scatter feed.

How much does each chicken feeder cup hold?

Each cup holds 800 mL, or 27 fluid ounces by volume. Choosing a 5-pack or 10-pack changes the number of cups, not the capacity of each cup.

What can I serve in the VFeedr cup?

Use it for free-flowing dry chicken feed, poultry grit, oyster shell, dry treats, or dry supplements used according to their directions. Remove anything that becomes wet, compacted, spoiled, or contaminated.

Is the VFeedr wall-mount adapter included?

No. This cup has integrated hooks for compatible wire mesh. The optional VFeedr wall-mount adapter is a separate accessory and is not included.

What is included with each quantity option?

The single option includes one 800 mL cup, the 5-pack includes five identical cups, and the 10-pack includes ten identical cups. Select the quantity needed for your number of pens, cages, or feeding stations.

How should I clean the chicken feeder cup?

Remove the cup from the mesh, discard the old contents, and wash away feed dust and residue. Rinse thoroughly and let the cup dry completely before refilling it with dry feed or supplements. Inspect the opening, hooks, and cup body before rehanging it.
