What it is used for

Use Vetericyn Plus Wound Care Spray as directed to clean debris and impurities from minor cuts, scrapes, abrasions, and skin irritations. It can also be used to moisten a wound dressing. The liquid spray helps reach and flush an affected area; it is not an antibiotic or a substitute for professional diagnosis and treatment.

Using Vetericyn for chickens

Before treating a chicken, calmly separate the bird and examine the affected area in good light. Minor surface wounds may be cleaned with the spray according to the bottle directions. Ingredients and formula

The active ingredient is hypochlorous acid. Other ingredients include electrolyzed water, sodium chloride, and pH-buffering agents. The ready-to-use formula contains no antibiotics, steroids, alcohol, or bleach. Liquid spray versus hydrogel

This listing is for the liquid wound care spray. It is suited to saturating and flushing an area. Vetericyn Plus Antimicrobial Hydrogel is a separate, thicker product intended to help maintain moisture and provide coverage when a dressing or longer contact is appropriate. Hydrogel is not included with this 3 oz spray.

How to use

1. Move feathers or hair away from the wound area; clip carefully if necessary.
2. If active bleeding is present, apply steady pressure with clean gauze before proceeding.
3. Adjust the nozzle and thoroughly saturate the affected area, allowing the liquid to flush away loose debris.
4. If a dressing is needed, saturate it with the wound care spray at each dressing change.
5. Repeat three to four times daily, or as necessary, following the current bottle directions. No rinsing is required.

When veterinary care is needed

Seek prompt professional care for uncontrolled bleeding, deep punctures or tears, animal bites, eye injuries, severe contamination, broken bones, extensive burns, significant pain, or wounds with swelling, heat, discharge, odor, or tissue discoloration.
