Sav-A-Chick Electrolytes and Probiotics for Poultry

The Sav-A-Chick® Electrolyte & Probiotic Combo Pack supplies two complementary poultry supplements in convenient, premeasured packets. The electrolyte and vitamin formula is intended to support hydration during hot weather or other periods of stress, while the probiotic formula supplies live, naturally occurring bacteria for digestive support. For environmental steps beyond supplementation, review our guide to keeping chickens cool during extreme summer heat.

The combo pack can be used for chicks and adult poultry. New flock keepers can also review our guide explaining how to care for baby chicks. This is a supplemental flock-care product, not a complete feed, medication, or substitute for appropriate brooder temperature, clean water, balanced nutrition, sanitation, diagnosis, or veterinary care.

What Is Included in the Six-Packet Combo Pack?

Each retail envelope contains one three-packet strip of Sav-A-Chick® Electrolyte & Vitamin Supplement and one three-packet strip of Sav-A-Chick® Probiotic Supplement. That is six individual packets total: three electrolyte-and-vitamin packets and three probiotic packets.

  • Electrolyte and vitamin packets: three premeasured packets, each intended for 1 gallon of clean, cool water.
  • Probiotic packets: three premeasured packets, each intended for 1 gallon of clean, cool water.
  • Combined servings: when one packet of each supplement is mixed together, the envelope provides three one-gallon preparations.

The two packet types are packaged separately so they can be identified before mixing. Read both packet labels before preparation and retain the outer envelope for product information.

When to Offer Poultry Electrolytes and Probiotics

Sav-A-Chick describes these supplements for birds of all ages during hot weather or other periods of stress. They may be offered to chickens, chicks, ducks, turkeys, and other domestic poultry according to the package directions. The electrolyte-and-vitamin packet supports hydration and nutrient replenishment; the probiotic packet supports the digestive system with a source of beneficial bacteria.

Supplements should not be used to mask an environmental or husbandry problem. Check brooder temperature, shade, ventilation, water access, stocking density, feed, and sanitation whenever birds appear stressed. A bird that is not drinking, cannot stand, has breathing difficulty, or shows persistent or worsening signs needs prompt evaluation from a qualified poultry-care professional or veterinarian. Keep appropriate supplies organized with our chicken first aid kit essentials guide, while recognizing that a kit does not replace professional care.

How to Mix One Gallon

  1. Start with a clean poultry water container and 1 gallon of clean, cool water.
  2. Open one Sav-A-Chick® Electrolyte & Vitamin packet.
  3. Open one Sav-A-Chick® Probiotic packet.
  4. Add both packets to the same gallon of water and mix thoroughly.
  5. Label or clearly identify the container so it is not confused with plain water.

Do not estimate a partial packet unless the current package label provides a smaller-volume ratio. The packets are premeasured for one gallon. Do not make the solution stronger than directed, and do not combine it with other water additives unless their labels or a qualified professional specifically confirm compatibility.

Feeding, Plain Water, and Daily Replacement

Offer the mixed supplement solution alongside plain drinking water in a separate container. Birds should be able to choose plain water whenever supplement water is available. Position both containers where every bird can reach them without crowding and where bedding, droppings, and direct sun are less likely to contaminate or heat the water.

Prepare fresh solution every day. Discard leftover mixed solution, wash the water containers, rinse them thoroughly, and prepare a new batch with clean, cool water. Monitor normal drinking behavior and never allow the supplement container to replace the flock’s only source of water.

Guaranteed Analysis and Label Guidance

The manufacturer’s current electrolyte label supplies guaranteed-analysis values for salt, sodium, potassium, zinc, and vitamins A, D3, and E. The probiotic label lists Bacillus subtilis at a minimum of 1.5 billion colony-forming units per gram. The physical package is the controlling source for the lot you receive.

Follow current package directions and cautions. This product is not for human consumption. Wash hands after handling animal supplements, and wash feed or water containers after use.
