Premium Baby Chick Brooder Starter Kit
Prepare a practical brooder with core equipment and selected chick-care supplies in one bundle. This premium baby chick brooder starter kit combines a reusable enclosure, an adjustable heating plate, feeding and watering equipment, chick grit, a chick treat and a poultry supplement combo. Each linked component is also sold separately, making it easier to replace or reorder individual supplies later. For planning guidance, review our complete chick brooder setup guide.
What’s Included in the Brooder Kit
- Green chick brooder pen enclosure: four reusable 31 × 16-inch plastic panels with four leg reinforcements, interlocking sides and ventilation openings.
- 12 × 12 chick brooder heating plate: adjustable 20-watt plate with an anti-roost top cover, designed to warm approximately 20–25 chicks.
- 20-inch flip-top chick feeder: a durable trough with 28 feeding openings for shared access and easier refilling.
- 1-liter mounting chick drinker: a refillable bottle with a float-valve cup, hinged lid and mounting bracket.
- Two 800 mL hanging green cups: removable cups for grit, treats, feed or water, depending on your setup.
- Chickies True Grit, 5 lb: appropriately sized poultry grit labeled for chicks over two weeks old.
- Chickie Garden Picnic treat, 3 lb: a non-GMO, soy-free chick treat containing chick starter crumbles, seeds, dried insects and herbs.
- Sav-A-Chick electrolyte and probiotic combo: three electrolyte-and-vitamin packets plus three probiotic packets.
Reusable Equipment for Brooder Setup
The four-panel enclosure creates a defined brooding area while allowing airflow. It has no floor or top, so place it on a suitable protected surface and add a secure cover when growing chicks begin attempting to fly out. The panels can be washed and stored for later use.
The heating plate gives chicks a localized source of warmth without heating the entire enclosure. Adjust its height as the chicks grow and position it so every chick can enter and leave freely. The approximate 20–25-chick rating depends on chick size, age, ambient conditions and unobstructed access; observe chick behavior and follow the plate instructions rather than relying on the number alone.
The 20-inch feeder, mounted 1-liter drinker and two hanging cups help separate feed, water, grit and treats. Clean each container regularly, remove wet or contaminated material and make sure every chick can reach fresh water and complete feed without crowding.
Using the Grit, Treat and Supplements
The included grit and treat are not substitutes for a nutritionally complete chick starter feed. Follow the current package labels: Chickies True Grit is labeled for chicks over two weeks old, while the Chickie Garden Picnic directions say to offer the treat after complete chick feed has been consumed. Keep complete chick starter feed and fresh water available.
The Sav-A-Chick envelope contains six packets total. When used together, mix one electrolyte-and-vitamin packet and one probiotic packet into one gallon of clean, cool water according to the package directions. Offer plain drinking water separately, prepare fresh supplement solution daily and clean the container after use. Supplements do not replace appropriate warmth, sanitation, nutrition or veterinary care.
What You Still Need
Bedding and complete chick starter feed are not included. Add a dry, absorbent, non-slip litter appropriate for young chicks and obtain a complete feed formulated for their age. The brooder also needs a protected location with adequate ventilation, access to electricity for the heating plate and enough space for chicks to move away from the warm area. New flock keepers can also use our essential chicken supplies checklist to plan the coop and care items needed beyond the brooder period.
Setup and Daily Care
- Assemble the enclosure on a stable, protected surface and add suitable bedding.
- Install and test the heating plate before the chicks arrive.
- Mount the drinker securely and position feed and water away from concentrated heat.
- Observe chick behavior, water access and bedding condition several times each day.
- Raise the heating plate and expand or change the enclosure as the chicks grow.
Always follow the instructions and current labels supplied with each component. Brooder needs vary with chick age, breed, size, room temperature and local conditions.
