This Privacy Policy explains how Parkhill Family Enterprises, LLC, doing business as My Favorite Chicken (My Favorite Chicken, we, us, or our), collects, uses, discloses, retains, and protects information when you use the My Favorite Chicken mobile application and related app services and web pages that link to this policy (collectively, the App Services).
This policy applies to the App Services. A separate privacy notice may apply when you shop through the My Favorite Chicken retail website or use another service that links to a different notice.
1. Privacy at a glance
- We require an adult account holder and do not ask for a birthdate.
- Your flock profiles, egg logs, tasks, care records, breeding records, saved items, private location details, verification documents, and privacy choices are private unless this policy says otherwise.
- Your discoverable Community profile and published Community content are visible to signed-in members, subject to blocking and moderation controls.
- Published Eggschange seller profiles, badges, listings, coarse locations, and listing photos may be visible to anyone, including people who are not signed in. Exact postal-area coordinates and private pickup details are not public.
- We do not process Eggschange payments and do not collect payment-card or bank-account information through the app.
- We do not sell personal information, use it for cross-context behavioral advertising, or use an advertising identifier.
- Optional usage analytics and diagnostic crash reporting start off and are sent only after you opt in.
- AI questions, recent conversation context, photos, and feature details are sent to OpenAI when you choose an AI-assisted feature. We set provider response storage off, but standard OpenAI API abuse-monitoring logs may retain customer content for up to 30 days.
- You may export your account data and request deletion from Settings. An external account-deletion request page will also be available before public release.
2. Information we collect
Account and profile information
We collect your email address, account identifier, authentication and account timestamps, display name, optional handle, optional biography, optional avatar, optional coarse location, profile discoverability choice, onboarding status, and a general flock summary. Our authentication provider processes your password; we do not receive or store it in readable form.
We record whether the account holder affirmed the current adult-account requirement. We do not ask for or store a birthdate. We also keep versioned records of required policy acceptances and privacy choices so we can honor and demonstrate those choices.
Private flock and learning information
When you use My Flock, we may collect bird names and photos; breed, sex, age, hatch date, status, leg-band or other private identifiers; color, egg, temperament, and trait descriptions; notes; daily egg counts; tasks and reminders; and bird care records such as animal-health observations, weights, medications, vaccinations, molt, broodiness, and milestones.
If you opt in to breeding tools, we also collect private parentage, lineage or strain, offspring, trait, and genetics notes. These are records about poultry, not human medical records. My Flock information is restricted to your account through access controls and is not shown on your Community or Eggschange profile unless you separately choose to post or list it.
We collect articles you save and your Learning Center reading progress so those features can synchronize across your devices.
Community information
We collect Community posts, photos, captions or alternative text, comments, reactions, group memberships, saved posts, follows, blocks, reports, appeals, and related timestamps and status information. Discoverable profile information and eligible published Community content can be viewed by signed-in members. Reactions and follows may also be visible within the Community experience. Saved items, blocks, reports, and appeals are not public.
Reports and appeals may include the reason and details you provide. Authorized moderators can review reported content, report details, appeals, relevant account history, and moderation records. Moderator notes, assignments, and audit records are restricted to authorized staff except for notices or status information shown to the affected user.
Eggschange information
If you use The Eggschange, we may collect:
- a seller display name, biography, coarse location, account status, and eligible badges;
- listing titles, descriptions, animal or egg category, species, breed or variety, age or date, sex classification, price, trade choice, quantity, fulfillment and shipping regions, photos, and required compliance, welfare, and biosecurity acknowledgments;
- postal code, postal-area coordinates derived from that postal code, and private pickup details;
- saved listings and saved-search terms, filters, general areas, and notification choices;
- buyer-seller inquiries, replies, read status, proposed handoff status, and transaction reviews;
- listing reports, appeals, and moderation records; and
- if you request a seller badge, the verification type, issuing authority, jurisdiction, final two to four credential characters, expiration date, verification document, review status, and related audit history.
Published seller profiles, active badges, listings, coarse locations, and listing photos may be visible to anyone, including people who are not signed in. Do not include a home address, private pickup directions, full credential number, payment information, or other sensitive information in a public field.
Postal codes, derived postal-area coordinates, and private pickup details are restricted to the seller and authorized staff. The app uses rounded postal-area coordinates to estimate distance; it does not request the device's current GPS position for this feature. A device or platform geocoding service may process the postal-area query. Distance results are approximate.
Eggschange inquiries are visible to the participants and may be accessed by authorized moderators when reasonably necessary for safety, support, dispute review, or enforcement. My Favorite Chicken does not process payments or hold transaction funds.
Photos, camera, and media
With your permission, the app can access selected photos or the camera for bird profiles, Community posts, Eggschange listings and verification, and AI-assisted chicken, coop, or predator guidance. The app does not request microphone access.
Photos can reveal people, property, documents, location clues, and other private information. Files may also contain metadata created by your device. We do not intentionally use photo metadata to determine your precise location, and AI-analysis photo flows request images without EXIF location data, but you should review photos and remove sensitive details before submitting them.
AI-assisted feature information
When you use Ask Brooster, we send your question and up to four recent question-and-answer turns needed for conversation context to OpenAI. When you use Breed Identification, Hen or Roo?, Coop Advisor, or Predator Identifier, we send the selected photos and the limited details you enter for that assessment. Depending on the feature, those details may include coop measurements, flock size, climate, predator pressure, evidence type, incident timing, incident status, or a voluntarily entered general region.
Image-assisted features also send OpenAI a one-way hashed safety identifier derived from your app user ID. This is intended to help detect abuse without sending your direct account identifier. OpenAI may access approved public My Favorite Chicken or hatchery pages through web search when that feature is enabled.
We set the OpenAI Responses API store option to false and do not save ordinary AI questions, AI-analysis photos, or provider answers to your cloud account as conversation history. Standard OpenAI API abuse-monitoring logs may contain prompts, responses, photos, and related metadata for up to 30 days unless a longer period is required by law or reasonably necessary to prevent harm. OpenAI states that API data is not used to train or improve its models unless the API customer explicitly opts in. My Favorite Chicken will not opt in to provider training or use your AI inputs or photos to train or improve a model without a separate, explicit choice presented to you.
If you deliberately select Report answer or Report result, we save a restricted safety report containing the feature name, relevant submitted text or non-image context, generated text and displayed sources, selected reason, optional details, your account identifier, and timestamps. Original AI-analysis photos are not attached. Authorized reviewers use this information to investigate the reported result, improve safety controls and evaluation, enforce policy, and meet legal or safety obligations. The report is not used to train or improve an AI model without a separate explicit choice.
Notifications and device information
If you enable notifications, we collect an Expo push token, device platform, activation status, delivery and receipt status, notification preferences, and notification activity needed to send Community, Eggschange, moderation, reminder, or saved-search alerts. Notification content and the push token are processed by Expo and the applicable platform push service, such as Firebase Cloud Messaging on Android.
Our service providers may automatically process technical information needed to operate and secure the App Services, such as IP address, request timestamps, app and operating-system version, device type, language, time zone, installation or update token, network and error information, and authentication events.
Optional usage analytics
Usage analytics start off. If you opt in, we record your account ID, timestamp, and only the following allowlisted events: app session started and Home, Learning, Ask Brooster, Community, Eggschange, My Flock, or Settings screen viewed. We do not place prompts, post text, photos, flock or animal-health notes, private messages, or location in the analytics event table. Authorized staff receive aggregate counts rather than raw account-level analytics rows.
Optional diagnostic crash reports
Diagnostic crash reporting starts off. If you opt in and the service is configured, the app may send Sentry a scrubbed error message, stack trace, and basic app, device, and operating-system context. The app configuration disables default personal information, screenshots, view hierarchy, session replay, logs, network-request capture, performance tracing, breadcrumbs, and account identity. It removes common email addresses, account identifiers, authentication tokens, and user file paths before sending an event. No automated scrubber is perfect, so an unexpected error string could contain information not anticipated by these rules.
Support communications
If you contact us, we collect the information you provide, such as your name, email address, message, attachments, and information needed to resolve the request. Please do not send passwords, full identity-document numbers, financial credentials, or unrelated sensitive information.
3. Information we do not intentionally collect
The current app does not request contact-list, microphone, precise current-location, SMS, call-log, calendar, or broad file-system access. It does not collect payment-card or bank-account information, advertising identifiers, or human health and fitness information. We do not currently use in-app advertising or cross-app tracking.
4. How we use information
We use information to:
- create, authenticate, secure, and support accounts;
- synchronize profiles, settings, learning progress, flock records, Community activity, and Eggschange activity;
- provide AI-assisted educational responses and image assessments you request;
- publish content and listing information you intentionally submit to public or member-visible areas;
- calculate approximate postal-area distance and support safe buyer-seller handoffs;
- send requested notifications and reminders;
- honor consent, privacy, export, deletion, blocking, reporting, and appeal choices;
- review seller verification requests and issue or revoke narrowly described badges;
- prevent, investigate, and respond to fraud, abuse, animal-welfare concerns, security incidents, policy violations, and unlawful activity;
- provide support, maintain service reliability, debug errors, and improve features using consented or deidentified information;
- enforce our agreements and protect users, My Favorite Chicken, and others; and
- comply with legal obligations and valid legal process.
We do not use private flock records, private messages, AI prompts, photos, precise location, or verification documents for advertising.
5. When we disclose information
Other users and the public
We disclose information according to the feature and choices described above. Community profiles and eligible Community content are member-visible. Published Eggschange seller profiles, badges, listings, coarse locations, reviews when eligible for display, and listing images may be public. Buyer-seller messages and private flock data are not public.
If another person copies or reshares information that you made visible, we may not be able to control copies outside the App Services.
Service providers
We use service providers to operate the App Services. They process information for us under their own contracts and privacy terms, including:
- Supabase for authentication, PostgreSQL database hosting, private object storage, row-level access controls, and server functions;
- OpenAI for Ask Brooster and requested AI or image-assisted analysis;
- Expo for app builds and updates and for routing push notifications;
- Google/Firebase and Android services for Android delivery, push messaging, and device-platform functions such as geocoding; and
- Sentry, only after diagnostic consent and configuration, for privacy-scrubbed crash reporting.
These providers and their subprocessors may process data in the United States or other places where they operate.
Legal, safety, and business reasons
We may disclose information when we reasonably believe it is necessary to comply with law or valid legal process; protect a person or animal from serious harm; investigate fraud, abuse, security incidents, or unlawful conduct; enforce our agreements; or protect the rights and safety of users, My Favorite Chicken, or others.
If ownership or control of the App Services changes through a merger, financing, reorganization, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may be disclosed or transferred as part of that transaction subject to applicable law and this policy or a notice provided at the time.
6. No sale or targeted advertising
We do not sell personal information for money. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising or process it for targeted advertising. We do not use sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about you. If these practices change, we will update this policy and provide any notice, consent, or opt-out required by law before the change applies.
7. Your choices and controls
You can:
- change profile details and profile discoverability;
- grant or deny camera, photo, and notification permissions in the app or device settings;
- turn optional usage analytics, diagnostic crash reporting, personalized recommendations, and coarse marketplace location choices on or off in Settings;
- save or remove saved content and searches;
- delete eligible content and private flock records through available controls;
- leave groups, unfollow accounts, block users, and manage notification preferences;
- export a machine-readable copy of your account data; and
- request permanent account deletion in Settings.
Withdrawing an optional choice stops new processing for that purpose. It does not undo processing already completed while the choice was on, and a consent history entry remains until account deletion so we can honor and demonstrate the change. The personalized-recommendations choice is reserved for a future feature and does not currently enable a separate recommendation data pipeline.
8. Data retention
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including to provide an active account, honor user choices, secure the service, resolve disputes, and meet legal obligations. More specifically:
- Account, profile, learning, flock, Community, and Eggschange account data: retained while the account or relevant content remains active, unless you delete it or request account deletion.
- Ordinary AI requests: not saved to your My Favorite Chicken cloud account as AI history. OpenAI standard abuse-monitoring retention may be up to 30 days as described above.
- Deliberate AI-output reports: the question or other relevant non-image context, generated output, displayed source details, free-text report details, and direct reporter identifier are deleted or deidentified no later than 180 days after final review unless longer preservation is reasonably necessary for a legal obligation, security incident, credible safety matter, dispute, or prevention of repeated abuse. Restricted audit events and aggregate or deidentified safety metrics may remain.
- Usage analytics: automatically deleted after 90 days.
- Aggregate server-health events: contain operational category, error code, count, timing, and duration rather than user identity or submitted content, and are automatically deleted after 90 days.
- Diagnostic crash events: if you opt in, retained in Sentry for no more than 90 days under the production retention configuration.
- Push tokens: retained while active and removed or disabled when you sign out, delete the account, revoke or reset the token, or a provider reports that the device is no longer registered.
- Seller verification documents: retained while the request is pending and for up to 30 days after a final approval or rejection, then deleted from document storage. The badge, verification status, final credential characters, dates, and deidentified audit history may remain while the account is active or as otherwise needed for security, fraud prevention, disputes, or legal compliance.
- Support records: retained for as long as reasonably necessary to resolve the request and maintain appropriate business records.
Deletion from active systems may not immediately remove limited residual copies from encrypted backups, provider caches, or logs. Those copies are isolated from ordinary use and expire through normal rotation unless we must preserve specific information for legal, security, fraud-prevention, dispute, or safety reasons.
9. Account export and deletion
You may request a downloadable JSON export in Settings. The export includes account and profile records, privacy choices, legal acceptances, learning and flock records, Community and Eggschange records, AI-output reports that are still linked to your account, and a media-file inventory. Image and document bytes are not embedded in the JSON export. Internal moderator notes and security-only records are excluded.
To delete an account in the app, open Settings → Account data → Delete account, confirm the signed-in email address, and submit the request. If you cannot use the app, use the external deletion page at https://myfavoritechicken.com/app/account-deletion/ or contact info@myfavoritechicken.com.
Account deletion removes the authentication account, user-owned database records, and user-owned files in profile, Community, listing, verification, and flock storage. The app also attempts to remove account caches and local reminder data from the device.
To preserve the integrity of safety and moderation systems, Community, Eggschange, and AI-output reports, appeals, and immutable audit records may remain after direct identifiers and user-supplied details are removed or redacted. Account deletion removes the reporter identifier, reported input and output text, sources, and optional details from an AI-output report. Aggregate, deidentified operational records may also remain. We may retain other narrowly limited information when required for legal compliance, fraud prevention, security, safety, or dispute resolution. We do not use retained information to continue providing or marketing the deleted account.
Staff accounts require an administrator-assisted deletion process to avoid removing security controls without review.
10. State and other privacy rights
Depending on where you live and whether a law applies to us, you may have rights to know whether we process your personal information; access or obtain a portable copy; correct inaccuracies; delete information; withdraw consent; and opt out of sale, targeted advertising, or certain profiling. We do not currently sell personal information, use it for targeted advertising, or make decisions producing legal or similarly significant effects through profiling.
Submit a request through available in-app controls or email info@myfavoritechicken.com with the subject App Privacy Request. We may need to verify your account or identity before acting. You may use an authorized agent where applicable law permits, but we may request proof of authority and direct verification from you. We will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right.
If we deny a request, you may appeal by replying to the decision with the subject Privacy Appeal and explaining why you believe it should be reconsidered. You may also contact the appropriate state regulator where applicable.
11. Children and supervised youth
Only a person who is at least 18 may own an account. The App Services are not directed to children under 13, and an adult account holder must not allow a child under 13 to submit personal information, create Community content, send messages, upload photos, or use another interactive feature. Educational material may be viewed with an adult, but the adult must control the account and any submissions.
People ages 13 through 17 may participate only through direct supervision of a parent or legal guardian who owns and controls the account. They may not independently use Eggschange, buyer-seller messaging, seller tools, or private-location features.
If you believe a child under 13 submitted personal information, contact info@myfavoritechicken.com so we can investigate and delete it. This section does not replace any consent or protection required by applicable law.
12. Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information. These include encrypted network connections, managed authentication, private storage buckets, row-level database access controls, least-privilege server functions, restricted moderator roles, input limits, audit logs, rate limits, private server secrets, and consent-gated analytics and diagnostics.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. Protect your password and device, do not share credentials, and contact us promptly if you suspect unauthorized account access.
13. International processing
The App Services are operated from the United States and are currently designed primarily for U.S. users. If you access them from another country, information may be transferred to and processed in the United States and other countries where our providers operate. Those countries may have different data-protection laws from your home country. We will use protections required by applicable law when they apply.
14. Third-party links and content
The App Services may link to My Favorite Chicken articles, hatcheries, extension resources, veterinarians, animal-health authorities, app stores, or other websites. We do not control third-party sites, and their privacy practices are governed by their own notices. A link or AI citation does not mean the third party receives your account data from us, except where this policy identifies the third party as a service provider.
15. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the App Services, providers, or legal requirements change. The effective date and version appear at the top. We will publish the updated policy and provide additional notice when appropriate. If a material change requires a new acceptance or consent, we will request it before the new processing begins.
